This shirting fabric is medium-weight, densely woven and somewhat elastic due to its weave alone. It is made of 100% mercerised cotton. The interlacing of blue, red and white warp and weft threads creates this special weave pattern, which looks dark purple from a distance. The right and left sides of the fabric look slightly different - you get to decide which you like better. We think both sides are great.
This fabric washes and irons very well and is suitable for sewing beginners and professionals alike. This classic shirting fabric is especially interesting in combination with feminine sewing patterns. Edina used it to make the Patina Blouse by Friday Pattern Company, a blouse with a wide, flat collar.
