Product information "Cotton - Ottoman - Dark Navy"
Are you familiar with rep or ottoman weave? It is a special type of weave in which the weft thread is much thicker than the warp thread. This creates the characteristic horizontal stripe. Our ottoman fabric is a very deep dark blue, most would probably describe it as black. It is nice and stiff, which is great for bags for example, but can also be used for clothing items that need some structure to hold their designs (such as exaggerated sleeves, inverted pleats etc.). We sewed a jacket out of it with an interesting lantern sleeve. To emphasise this design detail, the structure of the fabric was perfect.
